Polestar has announced that pre-orders for the build slot for its 6 LA Concept have sold out. The electric roadster won’t launch until 2026, and the Polestar will limit production to just 500 units. Now, the reserved build slots are not a sale, but they do show a certain interest in the proposed EV.
All 500 build slots receive reservations within a week of the car’s production announcement on August 16. Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said that the combination of the roadster’s body style and all-electric powertrain is “one that appeals to even the toughest petrolheads.” The level of interest has Polestar planning to open a reservation book for the regular version of Polestar 6 later this year. This version will arrive after the initial run of 500 LA Concept models.

The Polestar 6 will share its foundation with the Polestar 5, using an 800-volt EV architecture and a bespoke aluminum platform. The dual-motor powertrain can produce 884 horsepower (650 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque, which is plenty for any car. The EV can return a time of 3.2 seconds 0-62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour). It could also have a top speed of 155 mph (250 kph).
The LA Concept edition model will come with unique 21-inch alloy wheels, sky blue exterior paint, and a leather interior. The concept debuted with an autonomous drone, but we don’t expect it to last to make it into a production model.
Great response from the press and consumers around O2 The concept prompted Polestar to give the green light for production, although the CEO expressed concerns about turning the concept into a production vehicle earlier this summer. There are challenges ahead, but EVs won’t arrive for another four years.
The Polestar 6 will be one of several new EVs to join the brand’s lineup over the next few years. The Polestar 3, an all-electric performance SUV, made its debut in October. In 2023, we’ll see the Polestar 4 coupe SUV arrive, with the Precept concept-based Polestar 5 coming in 2024.
