DeLorean Alpha5 Walkaround Video Reveals EV’s Neat Design Touch

DeLorean revealed the Alpha5 earlier this year, reviving the short-lived iconic brand. The EV debuted a few months ago, but the car made its public debut last week at Pebble Beach. YouTuber Supercar Blondie approached the car to see a short video highlighting the car’s interesting design features.

The DeLorean features an interesting styling when the large gullwing doors open. They feature lights on the front and rear edges of the doors that pulse from the bottom of the door to the top of the vehicle. This motif continues to the V elements located on the front and rear fascias. It is a white light on the front and red on the back.

Inside, the DeLorean takes inspiration from the DMC-12 for its Alpha5 styling. The USB port mimics the dial design found on the original car, while the original instrument cluster is an option available in the new digital display located in front of the driver. The start-stop button is on the roof above the windshield, hiding between the door switches.

One of the new features of this car is the DeLorean bracelet. It connects whoever wears it to the car, and it can send that person’s heartbeat to the seat. It will also allow the wearer to send a “hug” to the driver, who uses the car’s side bolster to convey a digital squeeze. It can even send a “kiss” using the seat neck vent.

When DeLorean revealed the car in May, the automaker said it would be able to hit 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.4 seconds and have a top speed of 150 mph (241 kph). Those numbers have changed little, with the company now claiming the car can hit 60 in 2.9 seconds. DeLorean also increased the car’s top speed to 155 mph (250 kph). The company has given specific details about the powertrain configuration, but we know that it will have all-wheel drive and a 100-kilowatt-hour battery that gives it a range of 300 miles,

It will have an original run of only 88 models before the company produces additional cars. DeLorean says we’ll get more information about the new EV before the vehicle goes on sale in 2024. The specs look promising, although there are a few gimmicks.
