EPA’s Releases 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Energy Efficiency Ratings, MPGe

[ad_1]

When it comes to electric vehicles, the first thing the general public wants to know is what kind of mileage a particular car is capable of achieving. The Cadillac Lyriq 2023 has an estimated range of 312 miles, as far as we know. But now, the US Environmental Protection Agency has released an all-new electric luxury crossover efficiency rating, including the MPG equivalent (MPGe).

According to the EPA, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq RWD has an estimated MPGe of an impressive 82 MPGe highway, 97 MPGe city for a combined 89 MPGe overall. This equates to 38 kWh of energy consumed per 100 miles. The EPA estimates that a gallon of gasoline is equivalent to 33.7 kWh of energy. In total, the Lyriq has an estimated annual fuel cost of $750, which equates to a savings of about $7,500 over five years when compared to gasoline-powered vehicles in the same size range.

Drive chain RWD AWD AWD RWD AWD
MPGe City 97 100 80 113 127
MPGe highway 82 89 72 100 117
Combined MPGe 89 95 76 107 122
Energy Consumption (kWh/100 miles) 38 36 44 31 28
Driving Distance (miles) 312 241 234 270 330
Time To Recharge At 240V Outlet (hours) 6.5 9 13 8 11.5

The Cadillac Lyriq 2023 takes about six and a half hours to fully charge from a 240-volt Level 2 electrical outlet. This charging speed is faster than some of its main competitors, as shown in the table above. However, even though the Lyriq has a range of 312 miles, it is slightly less energy efficient than the Tesla Model Y LR and Polestar 2. However, it performs much better than the Jaguar I-Pace in terms of energy consumption. .

It’s worth noting that the aforementioned EPA MPGe rating only applies to the Lyriq RWD, which features a single Ultium Drive motor driving the rear wheels. This configuration is rated at 340 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. At this time, the EPA has not released an estimate for the upcoming Lyriq AWD variant, which adds a second motor and is close to 500 horses.
