Watch Stock 911 Turbo S Rocket Up Pikes Peak To Second Place Win

Today’s cars are fast and fast. Advanced software helps today’s performance vehicles manage large amounts of horsepower and torque – a prime example is the Porsche 911 Turbo S. It’s a beast with all-wheel drive and over 600 horsepower, which makes it the perfect vehicle for David Donner, the early this year trying to reclaim the Pikes Peak production car record with him. However, Donner failed with this attempt due to bad weather.

A new video from Carfection’s YouTube channel highlights the stock David 2022 911 Turbo S and his journey to the 2022 hillclimb event. Donner had to beat a time of 10:18.488 seconds, but a rain-soaked road prevented him from setting the best time and reclaiming the title he last held in 2015. The weather also slowed down his rivals, allowing Donner to claim second place overall. with an impressive time of 10:34,053 seconds.

It’s quite a feat considering Donner drives a 911 Turbo S. Powering the Turbo S is Porsche’s twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, pumping out 640 horsepower (477 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque through the car’s eight-speed gearbox. and all-wheel drive system. Porsche is not fully stock as there have been changes made to safety, such as installing a roll cage, fuel cell, fire suppression system and racing seats. The car also received a freer-flowing exhaust system and a new fuel map. The car was also traveling on road tires.

The Pikes Peak Hill Climb event is a grueling 12.42-mile test on a narrow road with 156 turns, some guardrails, and little leeway for error. The finish line is 14,155 feet above sea level, and the course has an elevation change of one mile. Donner earned the title of King of the Mountain at Pikes Peak in 1991, 2002, and 2020, with family ties to the event dating back to the 1960s.

After finishing the race, Donner drove a stock Porsche back to his home in Colorado. He may not reclaim the production car title this year, but he’s still managed an impressive time. We hope he comes back to try again.
