The Volkswagen ID.4 2023 comes with a new entry-level Standard class and updates across all trim levels. VW is now building EVs in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The upgraded model goes on sale this fall.
All ID.4 values look slightly different for the 2023 model year. The exterior now comes with gloss black trim on the front bumper. Inside, there’s a 12-inch infotainment screen across the lineup instead of the 10-inch screen of the previous base trim. The front collision warning system gets cyclist detection, and the safety technology suite gets Park Assist Plus.

The new ID.4 standard starts at $38,790 after a destination cost of $1,295, which is $3,735 lower than the base model from the 2022 model year. This trim level comes with a 62-kilowatt-hour battery pack instead of the 82-kWh capacity of the other classes. This unit provides an approximate range of 208 miles (335 kilometers), compared to 275 miles (443 kilometers) for the Pro with the larger battery. The standard has a single electric motor that produces 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts).
The ID.4 standard comes as standard with LED headlights and 19-inch wheels. Inside, there is upholstery with faux leather on the side bolsters. Buyers can choose between Stone color with black and gray trim or Nutmeg with brown accents. It has dual zone climate control, a six-speaker stereo, and heated seats.
Now there’s also the ID.4 S. This model gets adaptive LED headlights, a illuminated VW badge, and 20-inch alloy wheels. It features perforated, faux leather inserts for the seats. The front seats have eight-way power adjustment and four-way lumbar massage. The steering wheel is heated. There is also a panoramic glass roof with electric blinds and an electric tailgate.
The Pro S Plus trim replaces the Gradient pack from the previous model year. These models are recognizable by their black roof with silver rails, silver trim on the bumpers, and an exclusive class design for the 20-inch alloy wheels. It also got a power folding mirror. Tech amenities include an Area View camera system, three-zone climate control with rear controls, and heated outdoor rear seats.
