In the new episode of “This Vs. That,” the Hoonigan crew has paired the unlikely duo for some intense drag racing – the 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and the Ford F-150 Lightning tribute truck. No stock, and that’s why the two face off in the latest Hoonigan YouTube video.
The 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow ditched the engine for the 6.2-liter Dodge Hellcat crate engine and added a Magnuson 2650 supercharger on top. This pair produces 900 horsepower (661 kilowatts). It weighs 4,188 pounds (1,899 kilograms), which is slightly less than the Ford F-150.

Ford doesn’t have a Blue Oval engine under the hood. In contrast, the 4,200-lbs (1,905 kg) truck uses a 2JZ-GTE engine that makes 700 hp (514 kW) in the pickup. Both Rolls and F-150 pair their engines with a six-speed manual.
Rolls got a stellar launch in the first race, gaining a sizeable lead early and keeping it on the finish line. Rolls beat Ford by half the length of the car. The second race dealt a blow to Ford, who got the better start of the line. The truck won the second race, but Rolls didn’t have the best outing, losing shifts and trailing behind the red Lightning clone.
The final race dealt a second blow to the truck, but Rolls was ready. Silver Shadow hit from the starting line and was able to take the lead, an advantage that Rolls-Royce maintained all the way to the finish line. The “bonus” race between the two ended in another F-150 win, but Rolls ruined it by releasing the gas pedal.
Ford struggles to put his power to the ground, allowing Rolls to crush him in a drag race. It’s quite nice to see a tuned 700-hp F-150 battling a modded Rolls Royce that makes 900 hp thanks to a Hellcat crate motor. Keep building wild stuff so we can watch them race.
