New Ford Escape 2023 Spy Shot Reveals Redesigned Crossover Face

New spy shots have captured the completely updated Ford Escape without being revealed. We first saw the revamped crossover late last year, but Ford hid the styling changes under the camouflage wrap that is now missing in this new image. This is our first clear look at the updated style, and there are significant changes on the front.

The lack of camouflage reveals that the Escape will feature a light bar at the front that connects the redesigned crossover headlights, similar to elements on the F-150 Lightning. Ford is reshaping the trapezoidal grille that will be on the restyled face of the crossover. The grille looks taller than before, which sits right under the new hood.

The new styling forced Ford to reposition the Blue Oval to the grille. The new photos also reveal a crossover sporting new fog lamps and a restyled lower bumper grille. The changes at the rear are more subtle, but the updated Escape will arrive with revamped taillight internals.

We haven’t seen the inside of the new Escape yet, but we don’t expect any significant changes with this mid-cycle refresh. The current Escape is all-new for the 2020 model year, and we doubt Ford will make any major changes to the interior layout. However, Ford may expand the available technology to include the BlueCruise driver assistance system.

While the new Escape features Lightning-like lighting elements, we didn’t expect the crossover to come with a battery-electric powertrain. Instead, we expect the current engine model to carry almost unchanged. That means the new Escape will continue to offer petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

We don’t know when Ford will reveal the updated Escape, but we hope it will be before the end of the year. Our spy photographer believes Ford will unveil the new Escape before the end of September, with production starting for the 2023 model sometime in November. The Escape shares its foundations with the new Bronco Sport, and the redesign will help differentiate the soft crossover from its fan-focused sibling.
