Drivers must be prepared to react to a list of potential hazards. Distracted drivers, pedestrians, potholes, and even animals can roam the roads, and that’s the last thing Oklahoma City drivers had to deal with earlier this week. A herd of cattle got loose on Monday morning, and a cow decided to venture out, straight into traffic and onto the interstate highway. The bad cow needed a fight, and it was caught on camera.
Blake Igert, a contractor for the Oklahoma National Stockyards pinback crew, got a call Monday about cows escaping onto the highway, so he and his partner Jimmy Dishman got in the saddle to see if they could help. Igert told KOCO, who captured the whole thing on camera, that it was “a little more intense” thanks to your standard bickering. Igert and Dishman were right in the middle of the traffic chasing the cows.
The video shows two ATVs trying to trap the cow, but the cow gets free and continues on her way. This is when Igert and Dishman spring into action. One of the lasso of the front as the cows continued to rush down the road. Another lasso is behind as the cows litter at an active intersection. You can see the FedEx truck go by as the two battle the beast.
It seems the cows didn’t cause any accidents or injuries, which is good. They are huge creatures that can cause great damage to cars and even cause injury. However, that was not the case here, and the cowboys managed to get into a fight with the cow. It’s not clear how the cows escaped, but they did and caused a scene that the cowboys managed to finish pretty well.
Igert told KOCO that this is something he will never forget, even if it isn’t something completely new. It’s also an excellent reminder to always be alert while driving, as you may not know what’s coming or what you’ll see on a sunny Monday morning.
