Development of the upcoming Audi Q6 E-Tron is still running smoothly. The German automaker has been testing the pure EV crossover nameplate extensively since last year. However, the latest spy shot brings something new.
Our spy photographer has seen the Q6 E-Tron prototype in Sweden once again – now sporting production lights on the front and rear for the first time. However, don’t expect Mickey’s lamp up top to reach production. They may be there only for emergency use.

The biggest surprise here is the Audi Q6 E-Tron sporting a set of split-type headlights – similar to the new BMW SAVs like the upcoming X7. As with most split headlight designs, the top appears to be reserved for the LED daytime running lights that double as turn signals. The rear gets production taillights as well, with horizontal graphics as opposed to the round headlights of the previous sighting.
The Audi Q6 E-Tron will be placed between the Q4 E-Tron which sits atop the MEB platform, and the full-sized flagship EV E-Tron which is based on a modified version of the MLB architecture.
Powertrain details of the Q6 E-Tron are scarce at the moment. However, there are rumors that an RS-branded Q6 E-Tron is coming, making around 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 612 pound-feet (830 Newton-meters) of torque. This has not been confirmed at this time.
Using the PPE architecture, the Q6 E-Tron will share its foundations with the electric Porsche Macan. The Macan EV will be revealed ahead of this year’s Q6 E-Tron, but both models will hit the market in 2023. Both the Audi Q5 and non-EV Macan will be sold side by side with their electric counterparts.
