Most automakers cover their development vehicles with camouflage in an attempt to hide the product’s identity from other drivers. But not Rolls-Royce. The British brand is telling anyone who sees it that this is the upcoming Specter electric coupe.
The vibrant wrap hides some of the design elements you need to take a closer look at the image to see. For example, there is a split headlight, but the top is hidden. Also, the vertical slats on the hood tilt inward, and seem to be able to close completely. The taillights look like placeholder pieces.

The orange wire runs from the trunk, across the roof, and into the cabin. This indicates that Rolls is evaluating components for the drivetrain or battery.
In profile, the Specter bears a resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe. There, however, the EV’s hood has a more pronounced sloping shape, and the roofline has a more distinctive curved shape at the rear.
There are no interior images of Specter yet. As a Rolls-Royce, you should expect a luxurious cabin with the most premium materials available. There has to be impressive technology if the model is to compete with the upcoming ultra-luxury EVs.
The Specter rides on the Architecture of Luxury platform that sits under the latest Ghost and Phantom. It reportedly shares a drivetrain with the BMW iX M60 which has two electric motors with up to 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) and 811 pound-feet (1,100 newton-meters) for short bursts in Sport mode. During normal driving, the system produces 532 hp (391 kW) and 749 lb-ft (1,015 Nm).
The iX M60 packs an 111.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack with an EPA estimated range of 280 miles (450 kilometers).
Rolls-Royce plans to launch the Specter in late 2023 for the 2024 model year.
