BMW M3 Touring Teaser Details Performance Tweaks, Previews Cargo Space

One of the most exciting premieres slated for 2022 is coming from BMW. The Bavarian company will soon unveil the first M3 Touring and there’s a new teaser video with a speedy wagon. What started out as a crazy idea and through merging the M3 with a Series 3 wagon would soon become the official M3 Touring. But what makes it so special?

“Unlike any other car, the new BMW M3 Touring will represent the appeal of superior driving dynamics and practicality as well as the greater space offered in real estate concepts in a highly competitive segment. Doing so, typically for the BMW M3, is nothing less than the benchmark for driving dynamics in a vehicle with five seats, five doors and greatly increased storage space,” explains Hagen Franke, M3 Touring project manager.

In a new video featuring the performance model, attached at the top of this page, BMW also talks about the joys it took to design and engineer the M3 Touring and the process it went through from concept idea to Nurburgring tests. The powerful train would essentially be the ideological successor to the M5 Touring, which was originally launched in 1992. In 2000, the automaker launched the M3 Touring Concept as a pointer to the future. But is the new M3 Touring more focused on performance or practicality?

“First and foremost, this is the BMW M3 – with all the quality driving dynamics and characteristics that have represented this model series for generations. It is equipped with the characteristics of the typical BMW Touring concept which can be used flexibly. But it will definitely be more of a racehorse than a working horse,” added Robert Pilsl, M3 Touring project manager.

Do you want to know more even before the official and full debut? Watch the video here – believe me, it’s interesting – and you’ll learn more about the performance changes made to the car, as well as how many crates of drinks you can fit in the trunk. Spoiler alert: more than you can fit in the M3 sedan.
