Trifecta Performance, an aftermarket automotive tuning company that specializes in tuning a variety of vehicles, including several Cadillac models, has just announced that it is developing an original tuning product for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.
“We are pleased to announce that Trifecta has purchased our own CT4-V Blackwing to develop our flash/original tuning product,” the company said in a statement. post on his site. “Our solution would require modification of the ECM, and once completed, the ECM could be flashed/updated/dataloged in the vehicle without an expensive and unreliable ‘piggyback’ solution.”
In order to flash the ECU of the Blackwing CT4-V, Trifecta stated that the unit had to be removed from the very high-performance sedan and sent to a tuning company for modification. After this process, the ECU can then be reinstalled, allowing the customer to flash back and forth from stock to custom driving performance modes. In addition, the modification allows customers to receive updates from the Trifecta and eliminates the need to remove the ECU from the super sedan again in the future.
“This is the truth,” said Trifecta. “We’ve accomplished nothing less than completely tuning the ECM!”
Flashing the ECU of the CT4-V Blackwing is an impressive feat, as this super sedan features Cadillac’s Global B (also known as Vehicle Intelligence Platform) electrical architecture. The Global B system is sophisticated enough to prevent it from being hacked, but this security also makes it harder for aftermarket tuners to modify a vehicle’s ECU to get more power from the drivetrain.
For example, several aftermarket tuners have tried and failed to modify the ECU in the Chevrolet Corvette C8, which also has the Global B architecture. That’s why it has proved so difficult to increase the power output of the Corvette C8, despite adding a turbocharger and other drivetrain modifications. With that in mind, it would be impressive if Trifecta’s attempts to flash the Blackwing CT4-V’s ECU prove successful.

The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing represents the most performance-oriented version of the CT4 lineup. This subcompact super sedan is powered by a 3.6L twin-turbocharged V6 engine (production code LF4) that produces 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. In that sense, this model is certainly not short on power in the form of bone-stock. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a ten-speed automatic is optional. Power is channeled exclusively through the rear wheels.
