Chevy dealer inventory levels saw a decline in March 2026, with the Bow Tie brand ending the month with 67 days of inventory. Inventory figures in March 2026 were down from 85 days in February 2026, while on a year-on-year basis, inventories remained relatively stable compared to the 66 days of inventory recorded in March 2025. That’s the latest from Cox Automotivewhich also reported that in the broader US market, total new vehicle supply reached 2.89 million units, an increase of 1.3 percent from February and an increase of 6.1 percent compared to the same month last year. However, year-over-year comparisons were significantly impacted by unusual purchasing patterns in March 2025 as a result of tariff concerns causing a spike in purchasing activity, thereby reducing available inventory.
Sales activity was stronger in March compared to the first two months of the year, with sales volume increasing approximately 36 percent compared to February. This increase contributed to an overall decrease in days supply, which fell from 96 days in February and 94 days in January to 79 days in March. Sales fell 4.8 percent compared to March 2025, while daily supply was still 11.4 percent higher year-on-year.

Inventory levels vary between different price segments, with limited supply for vehicles priced under $40,000 due to factors such as model discontinuations and model lineup changes leading up to the 2026 model year redesign and beyond. Tariff concerns also affect this segment, as many of these models are manufactured outside America
Meanwhile, the average listing price remained relatively stable, recorded at $48,667. Citing Kelley Blue Book, Cox Automotive stated that the average transaction price was $49,275, up 3.4 percent year over year, while the average MSRP rose 3.9 percent to $51,456. Incentive spending also increased, with the industry average rising to $3,541 per vehicle, or 7.2 percent of the average transaction price.
