Corvette Racing is busy this weekend. Between IMSA contests in Long Beach on April 18th2026 and the FIA World Endurance Championship at Imola on April 19thThe Bow Tie brand brings its best drivers to the grid. And it worked out perfectly for the No. 11 Corvette Z06 GT3.R. 33, who finished in second place when the checker failed.
Nicky Catsburg, Jonny Edgar and Blake McDonald raced from the middle of the pack back to the front, gaining 12 positions after the green flag dropped. With less time, they could have pushed all the way to pole position, but it was as if the Corvette Racing trio never got the chance to dethrone the GT3 class-winning BMW.

That incredible push forward came from rookie McDonald, who made his first FIA WEC start at Imola and attacked from 14th to fifth in class during his assignment. Edgar took the reins and put the No. 11 Corvette Racing engine on the line. 33 was on target, led several laps and set the fastest lap of the race.
Catsburg took control with one hour and 40 minutes remaining. He returned to P2 with half an hour remaining and cut BMW’s three-second lead to just 0.265 seconds, proving that the No. 33 has a phenomenal race car under their belt.
“First WEC race and first WEC podium,” McDonald said. “I think we had the win and the car to win and we also had the pace. A couple of small crashes left us in P2 but I can’t complain too much about that. Started from P14 and got up to P2, leading the race for a while… Jonny did a really good job and Nicky did a really good job. I’m very proud.”
Meanwhile, the No. The 34 experienced electrical problems stopping its incredible run and finishing 16th.th.

“The Corvette all weekend had good speed,” said Eric Warren, GM Vice President, Global Motorsports Competition. “We have some issues to work out. There were some mirror issues we had to work out and some electrical issues we were trying to resolve. But both cars had speed. The No. 33 had a great chance to take the win and it came on the last lap. But it was a great performance from the Nos. 33 and 34. TF Sport and Corvette Racing should be happy with the start of the season, and we’re looking forward to more this year.”
