About the GMC Terrain
The 2026 GMC Terrain completes the all-new 2025 GMC Terrain lineup, with the base Elevation trim level now joined by the more rugged AT4 and luxurious Denali trims.

The only powertrain offered remains the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, which produces 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque when equipped with front-wheel drive, and 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque when equipped with all-wheel drive. The 2026 Terrain gets a new trailer package, and can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

The GMC Terrain recently lost out Consumer Reports “Recommended” rating.
Production of the upcoming 2027 GMC Terrain is currently scheduled to begin the week of June 1st2026, at the GM San Luis Potosí Plant in Mexico. Notably, the 2027 Terrain will drop this transmission option, namely the CVT in favor of GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission for all configurations. Additionally, the 2026 GMC Terrain is built with fewer US and Canadian parts than the 2025 model.
