The C8 Corvette ZR1X is Chevrolet’s ultimate performance tour de force, packed every inch with quick tricks to produce the quickest, quickest and most powerful production Corvette ever built. It’s true, this thing is capable of taking on some of the craziest four-wheeled machines on earth. Not surprisingly, Jay Leno just bought it.

Jay Leno drives a Corvette ZR1X.

In the latest episode Jay Leno’s Garagewe take a detailed look at the comedian’s new toy, highlighting its extreme performance capabilities and what it’s like to own and ride it. In the video, Leno is accompanied by Mark Reuss who talks about the development of the car and the team behind it.

Of course, Reuss emphasized the engineering effort, build quality, and balance between everyday usability and track-level performance, while the two discussed how the vehicle delivers comparable (or superior) performance to many high-end European supercars, but at a much lower price.

Among the discussion points are the design, carbon ceramic brakes, advanced suspension, and twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 hybrid powertrain, which produces a combined 1,250 horsepower. Specifications include a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 2 seconds, while a top speed exceeds 230 mph. There are also more civilized features, such as improvements to the interior made with the launch of the 2026 model year.

While driving his new Corvette ZR1X on the road, Leno described it as a very stable, powerful and solid car, comparing the feel to something carved from a solid block. He explains that although the car has more power than can realistically be used on public roads, it is still enjoyable and controllable. He also praised how modern performance cars combine power, handling and technology in ways that weren’t possible in the past, and he expressed his pride in the American-made ZR1X while highlighting the people involved in its creation.
