- Bentley has shown off the Bentayga X Concept to dealers.
- Dealers have asked the automaker to ‘launch it to the market’.
- Bentley North America’s CEO says the off-road SUV will be the ‘ultimate offering’ with limited production.
Earlier this year, Bentley unveiled the Bentayga X Concept, an off-road-focused version of its luxury SUV. The automaker was clear about its intentions, admitting that it designed the concept to gauge interest in an “enhanced, off-road capable Bentayga,” and there’s at least one group interested in the production version: Bentley dealers.
Bentley has been showing the concept to dealers since early January, and according to Mike Rocco, CEO of Bentley North America, the dealer response was, “’Yeah, we want that car, bring it to market.” Rocco, talk to Motor1 at the 2026 New York Auto Show, adding that such a model would be a “top offering,” a limited production run like Bentley’s Supersports.
When asked if Bentley might launch such an SUV in the next few years, the executive said, “I would say sooner than that, off-road. [Bentayga].” And after that, automakers will develop something new.

Bentayga X concept
The Bentayga X Concept debuted in late January, featuring significant off-road improvements. This SUV has a taller suspension, providing 12.2 inches of ground clearance and a wading depth of nearly two feet. Bentley also widened the track by five inches.
The Bentayga also has wheel arches extended to accommodate 22-inch white alloy wheels, a color we hope Bentley keeps for a potential production version. The concept is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 641 horsepower.
It looks like Bentley is seriously considering putting the X Concept, or a version of it, into production. It’s not the only company that wants an off-road luxury SUV. BMW, Audi, and even Lincoln are considering similar models to compete with the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which just had its best sales year ever.

Motorcycle Pickup1: It would be foolish if Bentley didn’t turn the concept into a production vehicle. Consumers continue to flock to crossovers and SUVs, as well as high-performance vehicles, especially for luxury consumers. The G-Class wouldn’t be as popular as it is today if people didn’t like this type of vehicle.
