The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is a bargain. Not only is the base model now only the hybrid model cheaper than the previous hybrid model, but the plug-in-hybrid model is also cheaper than the previous PHEV by several thousand dollars.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid starts at $42,920 for the base SE model $1,420 destination charge is included. The previous RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid costs $45,260, with a mandatory $1,395 destination charge. That’s an insignificant difference of $2,340.

Toyota is also expanding the PHEV option to more trims in 2026, with the rugged Woodland getting a battery-electric powertrain as well as a new GR Sport trim at the top of the range. The Woodland PHEV starts at $46,720, while the GR Sport costs $49,920.

The RAV4 XSE Plug-In Hybrid comes in at a starting price of $48,620. That also makes it $500 cheaper than the replacement version.

What do you get for the money? The 2026 RAV4 PHEV packs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, resulting in a total output of 324 horsepower. For comparison, the previous RAV4 PHEV only had 302 hp.

The RAV’s all-electric driving range jumps from 42 miles on the previous model to 50 miles here. Woodland and XSE models also come standard with DC fast charging capability, which will recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

If you don’t want a plug-in RAV4, the standard RAV comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine that produces 226 hp and gets up to 41 mpg. That version starts at $33,350 for the base LE, and tops out at $44,750 for the Limited model.
