Is This New DeLorean Teaser Image Posted On April 1 The Real Deal?

[ad_1]

If Marty McFly were here, he would say this teaser image from DeLorean Motor Company is heavy. If Doc Brown was here, yes, you were know what will he say. All we can say after seeing this very blurry image is… Hah?

As far as teasers go, this one certainly doesn’t tempt much. The fact that it was posted on April 1 raises another question: is it really a teaser or just a trick of the automaker? In a post on Facebook, DeLorean played the whole April Fools’ Day tie while offering #First sight hash tag. All things considered, we’d say yes, this is a legit teaser.

What exactly are we seeing? Well, those red stripes are probably taillights. And if that’s the case, we might as well see a grille in the rear window. There’s a vague roofline and body, either painted silver or stainless steel leather. But it’s so blurry that we can see the Destroyer from Thor for all we know.

This is what we know. In January 2021, Italdesign made a surprise by teasing a shadow car with gull-wing doors and a DeLorean Motor Company badge on a dark grille. The image came with a statement promising more information in the near future, and finally came in February 2022. Italdesign announced that they were indeed working with a rebooted DMC on the new car. Next, we learned that it would be fully electric, and would debut in August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. So for those who think the whole DeLorean thing is actually a joke? Not this one.

This blurry teaser photo might not be a joke either, but we suspect someone will burst out laughing because of people trying to figure it out. The original DeLorean did have a rear window grille, so that could be a connection to this teaser. The ’80s icon also has a large taillight with a small rectangular segment. The three distinct red lines here could indicate that the reboot will at least offer a design similar to that of the lens. To be honest, we were really excited to see the teaser photos with multiple colors.

With four months until Pebble Beach, it’s safe to assume that we’ll see a few more teasers before its reveal. Hopefully, the person behind the camera will come to their senses for the next shoot.
