Certain 2021 model year Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans are eligible for an over-the-air update that adds new functionality to the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance feature, Cadillac Society has learned.

The update adds the Automatic Lane Change feature to CT4 and CT5, which allows Super Cruise-equipped vehicles to identify and independently make safe lane changes when detecting optimal conditions, while enabling and disabling turn signals when needed. It is available for use on 200,000 miles of North American highways where Super Cruise is compatible.

The Auto Path Change Update is expected to be released sometime this summer. Cadillac has not released pricing information for the paid upgrade.

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is also eligible for the upgrade, which is bundled with another update to include the Super Cruise Trailer. Approximately 12,000 CT4, CT5 and Escalade combined units are eligible for the new Super Cruise capability via an over-the-air update.

The base engine for the Cadillac CT4 is a turbocharged 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), producing 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This is standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels (350T badge on decklid). The turbocharged 2.7L I4 (production code L3B) is optional on the CT4 Premium Luxury (badged 500T), where it produces 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. A 2.7L turbo engine is standard on the CT4-V, tuned to produce 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5 is also equipped with a 2.0L I4 (production code LSY) as standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport (badged 350T) trim levels. The driven four are rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 (production code LGY) is optional on the CT5 Premium Luxury (marked 550T), where it produces 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, and standard on the CT5-V, where it produces 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.

As a reminder, the Super Cruise is available for the regular CT4 and CT5 sedans in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trims, along with the high-performance CT4-V and CT5-V variants. This is not available on any of the very high-performance Cadillac Blackwing sedans – the CT4-V Blackwing or CT5-V Blackwing.
