Lamborghini Biopic Film Trailer Shows 350 GT, Miura, and Countach

According to the title, Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is an upcoming biopic about the famous Italian industrialist and the founding of his supercar company. The trailer for the film is now available (above). The film was released on November 18th, meaning there was a very short wait to see how it tells the story of this famous automotive.

The film stars Frank Grillo as Ferruccio Lamborghini. Judging from the trailer, the film offers a glimpse of his early life and finding success in producing agricultural equipment, such as tractors. This earned Lamborghini a lot of money, and he used some of it to buy sports cars of the era.

Gabriel Byrne plays Enzo Ferrari. Trailer footage shows Lamborghini meeting Ferrari and suggesting a partnership between their companies. Enzo replied: “Go back to your tractor.”

Real life story guess it’s a little different. According to the biography, Lamborghini allegedly complained about one of his Ferraris to Enzowho responded with tractor comments.

Regardless of how the altercation turned out, Lamborghini responded by bringing its own grand touring car to market. The trailer showcases the unveiling of the 350 GT at the Geneva Motor Show.

The very odd part of the trailer shows a Lamborghini with an Enzo racing a blue Countach with a red Ferrari Mondial. It’s hard to believe something like this happens in real life. By the time Ferrari launched the Mondial in 1980, the Enzo was in the 80s. He died in 1988 at the age of 90.

Plus, the Mondial has a V8 engine, versus the V12 in the Countach. These are not two models competing with each other. A Testarossa 512 or later would be a better comparison to the iconic Lamborghini vehicle.

Towards the end of the trailer, Lamborghini sketched the front of the Miura on a napkin. The next shot shows the car on the road.

If Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend doesn’t look appealing to you, another Italian auto biopic is in the works. Film Ferrari tells the story of Enzo and partly about the 1957 Mille Miglia race. Adam Driver plays the titular character, and Michael Mann directs. Look forward to the film which will premiere in 2023.
