2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia Facelift Spied Hiding Headlights New Yet Familiar

Alfa Romeo launched the Giulia more than seven years ago and has yet to give it a facelift. The Italians did spruce up their sports sedans with the GTA/GTAm but it hasn’t actually been introduced yet. Judging by this spy shot, the attractive BMW 3 Series alternative will be given an update to keep it fresh and competitive for a few more years. Despite full camouflage, the Tipo 952 as it is known by its code name has had few changes.

Judging by the wheels and dual exhaust tips flanking the diffuser, we’re dealing with a Veloce version positioned just below the Quadrifoglio which is at the top of the range. Just like the spy shots we saw last week with the Stelvio 2023, the changes will be limited to the headlights and taillights. At the front, Alfa Romeo applies the “3+3” theme from Tonale which uses a modernized headlight design mounted on the SZ Zagato or Proteo concept.

At the rear, it looks like the taillights will basically carry over but in dark colors in an attempt to give the derrière a “new” look while making minimal investment. That’s it as far as changes are concerned unless Alfa Romeo plans to modify the bumper. The recently spotted Stelvio prototype also has the body of the current model without any changes. However, that could change for production models.

The jury is still out on whether the sedan and SUV duo will be revised on the inside where the absence of a digital instrument cluster makes the cabin feel outdated. The new Tonale gets rid of the analog dial and it would be strange for the larger and more expensive model to maintain its current settings with just a small screen flanked by a tachometer and speedometer.

Alfa Romeo has announced the next-generation Giulia will turn into an EV, so time is ticking for both petrol and diesel engines. In fact, the brand will ditch ICE altogether by early 2027 in Enlarged Europe, North America, and China.
