Hyundai Hotel Opens With All Electricity From Ioniq 5

Hyundai Hotel opened in Essex, England, as a place to vacation and enjoy nature. What makes this location truly special is that all of the electricity that powers the site comes from the vehicle-loading capabilities of the Ioniq 5. A contest is underway to win over 14 winners to get a free one night stay there.

Two guests stay in a comfortable one bedroom cabin. Whitewashed wooden planks covered the floor, walls and ceiling. There is a rustic heater on one wall.

Upon arrival, visitors can explore about 200 hectares with a mix of farmland, forest and rivers. The cabin is also close to the 81-mile long Essex Way. Greensted Church is another place to visit as it is the oldest wooden church in the world.

Back at the cabin, there is a separate bar and restaurant with an indoor-outdoor dining area. Broadcaster and food critic Grace Dent curated a three course menu of locally sourced dishes and cocktails to match.

After dinner, the evening’s entertainment was a movie with a power projector and speakers coming from the Ioniq 5. There was even a popcorn machine.

“I hope this three-week pop-up hotel is just the start for the concept car that connects and powers a luxury experience like this. I predict that guests will be hoping that its great hotel and the full experience it offers may be here again in 2023 , said Dent.

The Ioniq 5 vehicle-to-load system supplies up to 3.6 kilowatts or 15 amps of AC power at 230 volts and 50 hertz. Adapter allows to plug in normal UK equipment.

The vehicle’s ability to load is increasingly common for EVs and even some hybrid vehicles. For example, the F-150 Hybrid is equipped with a 2.4 kW generator, and buyers can upgrade to a 7.2 kW unit. The F-150 Lightning even offers a 9.6-kW version.
