Ford Super Duty Debuts KenTrucky Day In Bluegrass State

Here’s a bit of unexpected news. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear declared that Tuesday, September 27, 2022, was KenTRUCKy Day. The odd decision was in honor of the 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty that debuted that day at Churchill Downs, which is the home of the Kentucky Derby.

“In honor of this great investment of Ford and Team Kentucky partners, I have officially declared, September 27, 2022, KenTRUCKy Day in the commonwealth,” Governor Beshear said. “Kentuckian has been building Ford trucks since the Model T, and we are excited that this tradition will continue with the all-new Ford F-Series Super Duty.”

Judging by the spy photos, the new Super Duty has a front-end styling evolution from the current generation of trucks. There is a wide grille and stacked headlights on each side. The bracket-shaped walking light is on the outer edge.

We still don’t have any photos of the new Super Duty interior. It’s reportedly getting a 12-inch infotainment screen like the one on the F-150. Higher trim levels are thought to get a digital instrument cluster.

Ford will continue to offer the new Super Duty in various trim levels, such as XL, XLT, King Ranch, and Platinum. To set it apart on the outside, expect different classes to have tweaks like different grilles and wheel designs.

Under the hood, the Super Duty is reportedly getting a new 6.8-liter V8. It may replace the existing 6.2 liter mill in the lineup. The 7.3-liter V8 diesel engine and 6.7-liter Power Stroke should still be available.

The truck is reportedly still available with a 10-speed automatic. The gearbox may have some improvements.

After the premiere on September 27th, look for the new Super Duty that will be on sale in the first half of 2023.

Ford has a sizeable footprint in Kentucky. The company employs more than 12,000 people there. It also has a collaboration with SK Innovation to build a $5.8 billion battery production park in Glendale, KY. When the site starts production in 2025, the two factories on campus will make a total of 86 gigawatt-hours of packaging annually.
