Report Says 2022 Cadillac XT5 Among Top Vehicles For Child Car Seats

Families with young children should consider installing a child seat when looking for a new vehicle, and a recent study named the 2022 Cadillac XT5 one of the best vehicles on the market when it comes to accommodating child seats.

It studywhich is conducted by mobil.com, studied car seat fittings in 52 different vehicles from the 2021 and 2022 model years to compile the 2022 Car Seat Conformity Report Card. The publication evaluates how well the child car seat fits each vehicle, along with the latch system, bottom anchor and top tether anchor. . The editors note that ease of installation is especially important for families with small children.

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 successfully passed and was given an “A” score in all research categories. Editors praised it for its easily accessible hook anchors and ample legroom for second-row passengers. The luxury crossover easily accommodates two car seats in its fit test, prompting editors to give it an excellent score across the board.

A number of luxury vehicles performed well in the study, including the 2021 and 2022 Audi Q5 Sportback and the 2022 Acura RDX, both of which also received “A” scores in each category. The 2022 Kia EV6 also gets an A, as does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. The 2021 Ford Bronco, meanwhile, is rated with mostly Cs and Bs, making it one of the worst-rated vehicles evaluated, right next to the Volvo Refill. XC40 2022.

As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are powered by a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the elevator doors. The naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. These models can be identified by the 400 badge on the elevator doors. Both engine options are coupled to a Cadillac nine-speed automatic transmission, and offer front-wheel drive as standard or all-wheel drive as an option. The Sport trim, however, features all-wheel-drive as standard.
