The starting price for the Mazda CX-9 2023 is $3,520 higher than last year as the brand omitted the entry-level Sport trim. Now, Touring is the base value for $40,025 after a destination cost of $1,275. The tweak lineup goes on sale this fall.
The scrambled model range means the CX-9 entry has a six-seat layout with two captain’s seats for the second row. Last year, the Sport class came with a seat there which provided space for a total of seven passengers. It is still available as an option at higher trim levels for the 2023 model.
Mazda has also made some of the equipment from the previously optional Premium Touring Package standard for the CX-9 Touring 2023. This model now comes with a powered moonroof, cordless phone charger, and LED fog lights.
These days, it’s rare to see an automaker lower the price of a vehicle, but the Touring Plus trim is slightly cheaper for the 2023 model year. Its value goes up from $41,660 in 2022 to $41,500 in 2023. That’s a $160 difference, but costs the destination $50 more than before. , so the net savings are only $110.
The rest of the lineup has not changed. The powertrain continues to consist of a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 250 horsepower (186 kilowatts) and 320 pound-feet (434 Newton-meters) of torque on 93-octane gas or 227 hp (169 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 kW). Mazda continues to offer the CX-9 in three premium colors. Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Machine Gray Metallic are $595. Snowflake White Pearl Mica is $395. This price is the same as last year.
