Dodge Viper With Hellcat Redeye Swap Sounds Evil On The Drag Strip

In two generations and three decades, the Dodge Viper has always been powered by a V10 engine. That’s always been part of the sign’s appeal.

But people from YouTube Throtl please be different from their latest build. In a project that began three weeks ago, they installed a Hellcat Redeye V8 Hellcrate engine into the hood of the 2021 Viper. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8, of course, produces 807 horsepower (602 kilowatts) and 717 pound-feet (972 Newton-meters) of torque. Meanwhile, the transmission has also been updated from the T56 to a T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission.

In addition to the engine swap, the Dodge Viper also received other upgrades such as a set of Penske coilovers, larger Wilwood brakes, and American Racing wheels with sticky radial drag. Now in the seventh episode of the project, the ambitious Throtls fire up a Hellcat-powered Viper for the first time at the Barona Dragstrip in California (see timing video embedded above).

However, the team is facing some issues, which they hope will be resolved soon. Based on Machine Exchange DepotHellcat-powered Vipers will participate in the Dodge Direct Connection Grudge Match at Roadkill Nights 2022, taking place today, August 13, 2022.

All participants of the above-mentioned event are provided with the same Hellcrate Redeye engine and corresponding ECU. Competitors were forced to use Direct Connection parts to build their own drag-race machines under a tight schedule.

Entries will compete in a public vendetta match, which will take place at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. Whether this Viper build will rise to victory in this straight-line race is yet to be decided. That looks promising, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
