Heated Seats Are Now Being Retrofitted In 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6

As Cadillac Society It was reported last year that certain units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 were produced starting the week of November 15^th, 2021, assembled without comfort features such as heated and ventilated seats and without a heated steering wheel due to the ongoing global microchip shortage. At the time, the luxury brand indicated that affected units could be refitted with functional heated seats once semiconductor shortages made it possible, and now a new customer satisfaction campaign has been launched to make that happen.

Under normal circumstances, heated rear outboard seats are offered in the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels of the XT5 and XT6. This feature is not offered at all on the base Luxury trim for both crossovers. XT5 or XT6 units built without the feature are offered a reward against the vehicle’s MSRP, with the promise of having the feature installed in the future as the microchip shortage situation develops.

Per customer satisfaction campaign bulletin recently viewed by Cadillac Society, dealers were instructed to install a new rear seat heating control module in the affected XT5 and XT6 luxury crossover units. The technician will then reprogram the body control module (BCM) for the heated rear outboard seat to function. The procedure will be carried out at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Both the 2022 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 are assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, and both are powered by the luxury marque’s C1 platform. The 2022 model year has been built, and production for the 2023 model year XT5 begins on June 10^th2022. At this time, it is unclear whether other comfort features other than heated rear outboard seats can be installed in units made without them.
