2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing To Get Optional Super Cruise

Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2023 will offer Super Cruise, Cadillac Society has learned.

Customers interested in getting the semi-autonomous driver assistance feature for the CT5-V Blackwing should opt for the Super Cruise 2 package (production code WKA), which combines Super Cruise (production code UKL) and a leather-wrapped Super Cruise steering wheel. (production code N30).

The Super Cruise must be selected along with two other technology packages available for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2023: the Driver Assistance Package (production code Y5Y), and the Parking Package (production code Y6L). In addition, the Super Cruise is only available in conjunction with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and is not offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Prices have not been announced.

Super Cruise is also offered on “regular” Cadillac CT5 models, specifically the Premium Luxury and Sport trims, along with the performance-oriented CT5-V. This feature is not offered at all on the base Luxury trim. The ongoing global shortage of microchips has limited the availability of the Super Cruise on the luxury sedan. Therefore, this feature may be very difficult to install on the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2023.

It should be noted that Super Cruise is on purpose no offered for the 2022 model year of the CT5-V Blackwing. As originally reported by our brother publications, GM Authority, more than a year ago, semi-autonomous technology was not offered on the CT5-V black wings because each is designed to be a “driver’s car.” In other words, Cadillac assumes that buyers of the CT4-V Blackwing or CT5-V Blackwing are interested in the thrilling driving experience, and therefore not interested in the ability to drive autonomously. Since then, the luxury brand has clearly backed away from that decision.

Under the hood, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing features a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4), tuned to produce 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, which is channeled exclusively to the rear wheels. This super sedan uses the Alpha 2 platform from the luxury brand, and is assembled at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. Production of the 2023 model year starts on July 18th.
