The Geo Metro was never supposed to be a performance car. It was an entry-level basic transport. However, the owner of this car abandoned the vehicle’s original purpose and dropped the 5.3 liter LS4 V8 into the rear cargo area of ​​the tiny hatchback. The strange machine is now on sale in Wisconsin for $7,000.

An overhauled powertrain sits at the back, and there’s no firewall between the engine and driver. You can easily reach back from the chair and feel it rumble. The plant runs via a General Motors 4T80E four-speed automatic transmission.

Builders had to modify the rear of the body for this engine swap to work. There are fender flares on both sides that open into the body to direct air into the V8. Additionally, the air inlet exits the body and faces rearward from just above the driver’s side rear wheel.

Under the hood, the fuel cell took its former place for the engine. Builders also added chassis support to strengthen the front end.

Not many changes to the cabin. The seven-inch tablet replaces the original instrument cluster. There are also additional gauges on the center console. Seats straight from the stock Metro.

According to the seller’s listing, the V8-powered engine completed about 500 miles of testing before winter, including a 150-mile trip on a day with temperatures over 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The car has no problem handling it.

The seller notes that the V8 Metro has excessive oversteer at over 65 miles per hour. “It’s starting to require concentration to keep it on track,” according to the list.
