From year to year, the most popular car colors in the world by sales volume are white, black, and gray. But if you want the darkest black paint job in the world, then you should turn your attention to Japan, specifically to Koyo Orient Japan and its Musou Black paint.
Musou Black paint is considered to be one of the blackest water-based acrylic paints in the world. In the video embedded above, the Porsche 911 has been painted with Musou Black paint, courtesy of the Pit One with the help of Koyo Orient.

Musou Black paint reflects 0.6 percent of light (and absorbs the rest), which explains the deep black color. In this way, the car lacks details and creases, almost turning the coupe into a two-dimensional figure or shadow. Frankly, it’s confusing and looks surreal, and it’s probably not a good idea to drive this car at night.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a car painted with Musou Black paint. Back in December 2020, the Mitsubishi Lancer also received a paint job that was just as weird to look at. For the record, the Musou Black paint job was developed and released by Koyo Orient in September 2020.
However, before the Koyo Orient, BMW was the first to introduce the darkest black color called Vantablack. Vantablack paint absorbs 99.96 percent of visible light, effectively rendering it blackest black paint out there. Paint has practical applications in the aerospace and defense sectors, which makes it unavailable to the public.
Vantablack was showcased at the BMW X6 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the idea was actually conceived by Vantablack maker Surrey Nano Systems and creative agency Levitation 29 to hide the details of the 2020 X6’s body ahead of its Frankfurt debut.
