Tuner Teases Two-Door GMC SUV With Removable Roof Panel

The team at Flat Out Autos previewed that the next build would be a two-door GMC SUV with a removable roof, much like the old-school Chevrolet K5 Blazer and its GMC Jimmy counterpart. Currently, vehicles are only here rendering from WB.Artist20.

Judging by what you can see in this image, Flat Out Autos starts with the regular two-door GMC Sierra cab. Although, the wheelbase looks shorter. The removable back cover might cover the bench seat, if it’s like the real Jimmy.

While not visible in this rendering, Flat Out Autos says the vehicle will have a folding tailgate, which was another element of the first-gen Jimmy.

Motor1.com contacted Flat Out Autos about the cost of this vehicle and the timeframe for its availability. Look for updates when we hear back.

This company is very familiar with making vehicles like this, although usually with a retro look. For example, Flat Out Autos made the Chevrolet Tahoe look like the first-generation K5 Blazer for the 2021 SEMA Show. It had to design new cuts for the hood, grille, headlights, taillights, rear quarter panels, front fenders, doors, chrome bumper, and tailgate. truck.

After the show, Flat Out Autos sold the vehicle in Bring A Trailer. It brought in $142,000.

Previously, the company tweaked the Tahoes to look like early Blazers, but these vehicles have a four-door layout instead of two for SEMA builds. Flat Out Autos charged $69,000 for this conversion, but buyers must supply a 2015 through 2020 Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon as a donor vehicle.

Currently, neither Chevrolet nor GMC have vehicles to compete directly with the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco. Something like what Flat Out Autos built with this project would be the perfect contender against them. However, there’s no sign that a product like this will ever make its way to showrooms, which gives this constructor a niche to fill.
