McLaren F1 GTR Road Car Shows Spectacular in London

Anyone with minimal automotive knowledge knows how special the McLaren F1 is. To this day, this car still holds the record as the fastest production car powered only by a naturally aspirated engine. With forced induction and EV taking over, it looks unlikely that it will ever lose this title unless its modern award – the Gordon Murray T.50 – has something to say about it. The car here is not an ordinary F1 because it is a derivative of a racing car.

McLaren only made a total of 28 GTRs but only 10 were built in the later Longtail specs. This one is even rarer considering it has been converted for street use by British shop Lanzante. Some would argue that slapping the license plate on a BMW-powered hypercar is disrespectful, especially since it’s rarer than chicken teeth.

All we have to say is black beauties look absolutely sensational in London, a city where rich people flaunt their high-end cars. Standing out in the British capital is getting tougher, but the road-legal F1 GTR Longtail makes it look easy. The three-seater engine was loud, cumbersome, and too big for the narrow streets, but someone was brave enough to take it out for a walk.

With very limited ground clearance, minor bumps in the road can cause damage to the bumper and underbody which costs a lot of money to repair considering how rare and ordered these cars are. Looking at the F1 GTR Longtail’s flash, its turn signals still take some getting used to, as do the number plates that negatively impact the car’s spectacular rear design.

Cars like the McLaren F1 GTR, Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, or Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion will never be made again. However, we remain confident that the new LMDh class will spawn some road cars even though regulations don’t force the company to build a street law equivalent.
