SsangYong is the most recognized South Korean off-road vehicle manufacturer in Asia and Europe. It is not currently in its best financial condition, although there are new products that could bring fresh new customers to the brand with hopes of a brighter future. The Torres is an all-new SUV positioned slightly above the Korando, the most recognized SsangYong product worldwide.
The automaker shared some pictures with the new model and they revealed a rugged-looking SUV with a bold front fascia featuring six vertical blades between the headlights. There’s a large bumper underneath with what appear to be fog lights integrated into the individual housings. The side profile sends out a strong Jeep vibe with the large, angular wheel arches. At the rear, the Torres looks like a facelifted Korando and is slightly larger.

However, there are no similarities between the two SUVs in terms of interior. The Torres has a modern cabin with three screens on the dashboard – one for the fully digital instrument cluster, one for the infotainment system, and another for controlling the HVAC system. The overall design language in the interior is angular, again, with plenty of aluminum inserts and rich leather panels. It’s worth noting that the photos depict the T7’s highest trim level.
What SsangYong is not ready to reveal are the mechanical specifications of the Torres, via a South Korean outlet auto post obtain a government certification document that provides further information. As far as we understand it, at least initially, the Torres uses a Korando 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas turbo powertrain with a peak output of 168 horsepower (125 kilowatts) and 206 pound-feet (280 Newton-meters) of torque. A six-speed automatic gearbox sends power to the front wheels or, optionally, to both axles.
The Torres is slightly larger than the Korando and offers 703 liters of cargo space, which can be expanded to 839 liters if you remove the trunk board. Up to 1,662 liters is available when you fold the second row seats down. In the domestic market, even the base of the Torres is equipped with artificial leather, heated front seats, LED headlights, heated steering wheel, automatic temperature control, and others.
