Once upon a time, the Dodge Dakota ruled the mid-truck segment with barely any competition to speak of. These days, Ford owns the Ranger and Chevrolet owns the Colorado, but Dodge (and Ram) fans are left in the dark. Just imagine the possibility of a Hellcat if there was a new Dakota.

It pumped out 250 horsepower at a time when Detroit’s most powerful muscle car offered around 320, but sadly, time has passed. is it right changed. The truck now packs a legit supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine, borrowed from the Dodge Charger. But wait, there’s more.

And to give the truck a modern interior, even the Dash Charger gets to work. As a result, this truck has a surprising factory look. The Dash Charger also allows room for cables and electronics to keep the Hellcat V8 happy. The Monster Dakota has various Hellcat driving modes, a center touchscreen, and even a working paddle shifter on the steering wheel.
At this point, you’re probably wondering how fast this street truck is. That’s a question we can’t answer yet, as this hell Dakota (officially called Hellkota) seems to be a work in progress. The video offers an overview of the truck along with some nasty tire-crushing donuts, but so far no dyno pulls or quarter-mile tracks. As you can probably guess, there are significant adjustments under the skin to make the engine and transmission fit perfectly. The rear is also upgraded, and the video mentions calling in the truck before going crazy on the power mod.
With time winding down on the internal combustion engine, the age of the new Hellcat vehicles may be over. That means Ram’s Dakota Hellcat factory will most likely never happen, so let’s enjoy this rad build while it lasts.
