Passenger vehicles are only a part of all vehicle production in the world. Industry and businesses also need vehicles, sometimes highly specialized vehicles that can move large amounts of cargo and goods. They’re not the performance vehicles as fans know them, but they’re powerful. However, as a new one carwow Drag race videos show, power doesn’t translate into speed.
The new video features seven massive rigs of varying sizes, engines, outputs and objectives to see which one crushes the other in a quarter-mile drag race. Should the McLaren 720S be worried? Of course not. The seven big rigs vying for supremacy range from 5.0 to 13.0 liter engines and from 220 to 500 horsepower (164 to 372 kilowatts). It’s far from an equal race, and each taxi that uses a different attachment doesn’t help either.
The standing-start drag race started out very slowly. What do you expect? Neither of the big rigs set land speed records here, with the first tipper truck, 410-hp, crossing the quarter-mile finish line in 27.5 seconds. The slowest of the bunch is a 450-hp volumetric concrete hauler that takes 32.1 seconds to cross the finish line. That’s not a huge gap between the two, but it does show that horsepower isn’t everything.
There was a rolling race held next, which saw the tipper truck win the second race, crossing the first mile finish line just ahead of the competition. The brake test at the end was a bit chaotic with so many vehicles on the track, though it didn’t really matter in the end. These trucks will be loaded with items that will significantly affect their performance in everyday life. They’re not fast vehicles, but rather offer a different practical performance that’s immeasurable in a quarter of a mile, although the competition is nothing short of fun to watch.
