Nissan has officially unveiled the Z race car concept for the Fuji 24-Hour Race, which will be held on June 4 and 5, 2022. But instead of revealing just one race car, the Japanese manufacturer is showcasing two versions supported by different teams.

Announced back in April, the Nissan Z race car concept is being developed with the knowledge gained over years of Super GT and customer racing vehicle development. Nismo will also use accumulated data from participation in grueling 24-hour endurance races, which will also help develop the vehicle further.

The two Nissan Z race car concepts are called the 230 and 244. The 230 race car is powered by the Nismo team and is equipped with a carbon-neutral fuel (CNF) compatible engine. While the 244 car is powered by a gasoline engine and is included by the Max Racing Team. Mobil 230 is very important because Nismo will apply what it will learn about CNF-compatible powertrains, which will be applied to future developments.

This is in line with Nissan’s goal of carbon neutrality by fiscal year 2050, including motorsport. The development of CNF-compatible engines is targeted for future carbon neutral motorsports.

For the record, Nissan is the only Japanese manufacturer to participate in the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

“We are the first and only Japanese manufacturer to enter the Formula E World Championship and we are once again challenging the norm. The participation of the Nissan Z Racing Concept car in this demanding race will bring many valuable lessons to the development of a carbon-fuel compatible competitive engine. neutral,” said Ashwani Gupta, Nissan’s chief operating officer.
