Mercedes B-Class Hides Slim Headlights, Reshaped Face In New Spy Shots

It seems like everywhere you look, Mercedes is introducing a new model or getting ready to redesign it. This week, the company introduced the new AMG One and GLC, but more is coming from the German automaker. Mercedes is also working on updating the B-Class, and it will receive minor changes compared to the current model on sale.

We expect Mercedes to receive a subtle redesign at the front and rear. Recent spy photos show the B-Class sporting camouflage on the front fascia, lower rear bumper, and taillights. Mercedes won’t change much, but we expect this model to receive slimmer headlights, a revised grille and a reshaped front bumper.

The changes will be more subtle at the rear, where we expect Mercedes to revamp the taillights and reshape the bumper. We haven’t clearly seen the interior of the B-Class yet, but we don’t expect any significant changes. The model should retain the driver display and infotainment screen paired with the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system.

If an interior similar to that of the revamped A-Class is also in development, we might see Mercedes remove the touchpad on the center console from the B-Class. Mercedes could make other adjustments to the big screen and tweak some other parts of the interior while incorporating it with a bit more technology to keep it feeling fresh among its competitors.

We haven’t heard any leaks about the powertrains, but we don’t expect any surprises either, as this mid-cycle refresh keeps things simple for the B-Class. The current lineup of powertrains should be carried unchanged from the models on sale now, although Mercedes could have made them more efficient.

Mercedes hasn’t said when it will debut the updated B-Class, but we expect it to go on sale in time for the 2023 model year. That could be revealed later this year or early next year. It will likely arrive after Mercedes reveals the A-Class we’ve seen, which will also receive minor styling changes.
