New DeLorean Debut Moved Up, Now Set For May 31

DeLorean’s teaser campaign hasn’t revealed much about the car since it started sketchy on April 1. We won’t see it until its August 18 debut at Pebble Beach, but DeLorean has moved it to this month. The new DeLorean EVolved was released on May 31st. The DeLorean Motor Company made the announcement last week on Twitter.

According to the tweet, fans couldn’t contain their excitement. They couldn’t wait until the August DeLorean debut, and they demanded that the company reveal it sooner. The company has obligated.

The EVolved design, written by Italdesign, looks much more curvaceous than the checkered DMC-12 from the 1980s. We don’t know how much the original will inspire the new model, but we expect the EVolved to feature a completely unique style. However, one feature this new model will have is the original iconic gullwing doors. We don’t have powertrain details, but the name provides a big clue as to what will drive it.

Previous teasers revealed that the DeLorean will come with a grille on the rear window, just like the original. Another teaser shows off the car’s LED light bar at the rear that runs across the entire rear and extends above the wheel arches.

We hope the DeLorean continues the car teaser campaign as we want to see it as much as possible before the official debut at the end of the month. We don’t know if we’ll see one or more DeLorean models debut at the same time. In early April, the company confirmed that it would reveal multiple versions of DeLorean by decade – 1990, 2000, and 2010 – before revealing DeLorean 2023.

DeLorean CEO Joost de Vries said we’ll see 40 years of history packed into the 90 days leading up to the reveal. The DeLorean now only has three weeks to make it happen, and we hope we get to see all of its variants. Owning a new DeLorean in four decades is exciting because the car has become an icon of American pop culture thanks to the The Back to the Future film franchise.
