WILL.I.AMG Is A GT 4-Door Coupe With Fewer Doors And G-Class Face

You might be inclined to believe this is some sort of Photoshop job, but no, it’s the real thing. Yes, will.i.am does put the face of the G-Class on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. When the boxy style of the former meets the swoopy shape of the latter, you know for sure it’s going to look pretty controversial. Riding on large retro-esque monoblock wheels, the one-off tool is now a true coupe in the sense that it has lost its rear door.

Officially known as WILL.I.AMG and nicknamed “The Flip”, this unique building features a large back-hinged door in the style of a Rolls-Royce Wraith. We’re told the car also follows the SLS, perhaps because the split glass roof bears a vague resemblance to the top of the gullwing doors. The more you look at the car, the more odd details you’ll notice. The head which is a badge as a three-pointed star is placed inside the bear logo.

Why do you ask? To promote a limited collection of clothing and accessories known as “Bear Witness”. An unusual logo can also be seen on the center cap of the wheel. Presumably, it’s on the rear as well, but for some reason, Mercedes-AMG hasn’t released an image of the rear of the vehicle. It’s worth noting that West Coast Customs built WILL.I.AMG, which is the sixth project the 47-year-old rapper has worked on.

The GT 4-Door Coupe’s radical changes don’t extend to the engine bay as the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine is left untouched. The seven-time Grammy-winning producer thinks AMG engineered the best engines in the business. That makes 577 horsepower in the 63 GT version and a colossal 630 hp in the hotter S version, with the new 63 SE Performance plug-in hybrid pushing out 830 hp.

We’ll be seeing more of WILL.I.AMG as it will be featured in a six-part documentary called “DRIVE” that will premiere at the Cannes film festival. Meanwhile, “The Flip” will celebrate its public debut this weekend at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. The whole idea behind unconventional creation is to reach disadvantaged youth and inspire them to achieve greater things. To that end, a portion of the Bear Witness Drop 1 – Limited Edition collection will be donated to the artist’s i.am/Angel Foundation.
