People who have been into cars for a while may remember when the Nissan GT-R was launched in 2009 and was a performance powerhouse for a while. More than a decade after its debut, this video shows how the Nismo version compares to the Tesla Model X.
The GT-R Nismo produces 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts), which is less than the Model X’s 670 hp (500 kW). However, Nissan’s weight is much lighter than Tesla’s. The differences give the GT-R a fighting chance here.

It should also be noted that these vehicles serve a completely different purpose. The Model X is a family-carrying crossover that’s also incredibly fast in straight lines. In comparison, the GT-R Nismo is the track-focused version of the sports coupe.
The weather for this clip isn’t ideal for drag racing. It’s foggy and the runway is wet. These conditions tested the all-wheel drive system of both vehicles.
The first race is a drag race. The Model X took an early lead, but the GT-R performed like a rocket ship near the end of the quarter mile. At the finish line, Nissan won narrowly.

Next, there are races from a roll of 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour). The results are similar. The Model X was initially attractive. At over 100 mph (161 kph), the GT-R Nismo raced to victory in the half mile.
They then resumed running these races, except to keep the Nissan in manual mode. This time around, the GT-R Nismo went a long way from the start, and there was nothing Tesla could do to keep up.
The final roll race is just from 30 mph (48 kph). Also, the Tesla is almost out of power, so the powertrain may not supply full power. The Model X initially took the lead. Then, the GT-R Nismo goes on as the electric crossover goes about 100 mph.
The final challenge is the braking test from 100 mph. Despite being heavier, the Model X scored a win. This is especially impressive because the GT-R Nismo has carbon-ceramic discs.
