Just like the hypercar, Koenigsegg’s marketing team is on another level. Spectacular cars like the Jesko deserve an action-packed promo, and “Egghunt” certainly brings a lot of fun. Just before Catholic Easter, the forthcoming 1,600 horsepower engine serves as a tool in the egg hunt on the icy roads of northern Sweden where an Agera RS replacement is being tested.
Arjeplog is Jesko’s playground with a vast frozen lake, allowing Koenigsegg’s new speed engine to test its rear-wheel steering. We also get to hear great music played by the flat-plane V8 engine, a 5.0-liter twin-turbo unit that cranks up to 8,500 rpm. The gear changes you hear about are made by the nine-speed Light Speed Transmission, which promises a performance boost on par with the DSG launched in 2003 on the VW Golf R32.

While the test in snowy Sweden wasn’t all about top speed, the new Jesko will go down in history as the fastest car Koenigsegg has ever built. The company believes it will break the 300-mph barrier, and computer simulations have revealed it might even do 330 mph. Until that happens, the exotic automaker calls its speed engine the “True Ice King”.
Launched more than three years ago, the Jesko remains as stunning as it was at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Only 125 were made and all of them have long been sold. In fact, only 42 cars were still up for grabs when the concept was introduced in Geneva, and all of them were sold within five days.
Named in honor of Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, Jesko isn’t the only model the Swedes are working on. While not as fast, the Gemera is interesting for another reason as it aims to be the world’s first supercar with a full-size rear seat.
