When Ford and Chevrolet battled it out at the Nürburgring, Porsche came running. The automaker recently took the 911 GT3 RS with the new Manthey Kit to the Nordschleife, and set a stunning lap time.
The 911 GT3 RS covered the track in 6 minutes 45.389 seconds, with Jörg Bergmeister behind the wheel. Faster than the Corvette ZR1X but slower than the Ford Mustang GTD Competition which only recorded a time of 6 minutes 40.835 seconds.
It’s also faster than the standard 911 GT3 which clocked 6 minutes 49.328 seconds.
The kit from Manthey, Porsche’s racing company based at the Nürburgring, includes a number of aerodynamic and suspension upgrades. There are large wings, roof fins, a larger front splitter, swooping plane and a larger rear diffuser.

According to Porsche, the changes increase downforce by 20 percent, giving the car 2,200 pounds at 177 miles per hour. Underneath, the kit adds new coilovers with stiffer springs, adaptive dampers and braided brake lines.
This kit doesn’t come cheap, with a price tag of $116,160 on top of the GT3 RS’s $244,995 starting price.
Motorcycle Pickup1: We live in an interesting era where the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette battle it out against Porsche for the fastest lap time at the Nürburgring. It may be pointless, but it’s fun to watch.
