Luft Tokyo: Porsche Heaven In Japan

Posted on
  • Luft Tokyo is the first time the air-cooled Porsche exhibit has traveled to Asia.
  • The show attracted more than 11,600 people and 220 vehicles.
  • This event proved to Luft organizers that demand for more global shows is very high.

Luftgekühlt is quickly becoming a “must attend” show for fans of classic Porsches. It was clearly a huge success in America, and now the Luft team has proven that the love for Porsche is strong in Japan too.

Luft Tokyo transformed the disused KK Line Expressway into the perfect place to see beautifully parked air-cooled Porsches. The show attracted more than 11,600 participants and 220 vehicles.

Patrick Long, founder of Luftgekühlt, said, “Bringing Luftgekühlt to Tokyo was an important moment for us, and the response has exceeded expectations.”

Bringing the show here was smart, as Japanese car culture has consistently proven to border on myth. We often hear stories about wild machines hidden in small garages. Or the story of a street racing car that is useless to drive in traffic jams, but whose presence is known from time to time.

“The level of enthusiasm and engagement we are seeing from the community reinforces how strong the relationship is around Porsche globally, and this gives us a lot of momentum in looking forward to what comes next,” said Patrick Long

Next up for the Luft team is Air|Water. The show expands what attendees can see by welcoming more Porsche models. Porsche fans should flock to Costa Mesa, California, on April 25, where Air|Water will take over the Orange County Fairgrounds.

The view will not be as beautiful as Luft Tokyo, but the view from the vehicle will definitely be just as amazing.

Motorcycle Pickup1: While vintage Porsches may not be for everyone, Luft’s success and growth cannot be denied. Adding the Air|Water show to the calendar also helps increase its appeal somewhat.

Of all the shows Luft has attended, the Tokyo setting seems to be one of the best. We hope to see many more photos from this special show.
