RS4 Engine In Ur-Quattro

  • Audacious Automotive is a British startup that reimagined the Ur-Quattro with lighter weight and V8 power.
  • The engine, taken from the RS4, will be supercharged to produce more than 600 horsepower.
  • Audacious Automotive will build you one if you provide two donor cars and about $470,000.

The Audi Quattro, or Ur-Quattro, remains a holy grail machine for those who worship at the altar of all things all-wheel drive. The original car had a turbocharged five-cylinder engine that punched well above its weight class, plus a rally AWD system and suspension setup.

Audacious Automotive, a UK-based automaker, plans to revive the Quattro. This time, however, the car featured lightweight bodywork and a few more cylinders. The Ur-Quattro meets another Audi legend: the 4.2-liter V8 from the RS4.

This initial proof of concept mash-up will be made from steel and aluminum. Audacious has shared lots of project photos when it comes together, and the fabrication work looks amazing.

Apart from that, the V8 engine seems to suit this beast’s snout quite well. After all, the default setup for many Audi products is for the engine to be pushed quite far forward. This car stays true to that lineage, for better, worse, or just for packaging reasons.

Audacious says the 4.2-liter V8 will produce 600 horsepower once attached to a supercharger. And this example is not the only one made, as the company hopes to attract buyers to buy more units.

You’ll need to provide RS4 and Ur-Quattro donor cars, which can be a challenge. Or not, because you also have to cough about $470,000—Which means you clearly have the money to purchase the two required donor vehicles.

That one ton Money. However, the production version of the car will swap the metal for a full carbon fiber body. However, despite the incredible fabrication work and potential of the finished product, the financial challenges of course… brave.

Motor Pickup1: Audi’s 4.2-liter V8 remains one of the best-sounding engines money can buy. Pairing that bike with one of the greatest vehicles to wear the four-ring badge is a match made in automotive heaven.
