2022 Cadillac Escalade Gets New 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

[ad_1]

A new 10-speed automatic transmission has been introduced for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. Cadillac Society has learned.

With production code MHS, the new transmission is exclusive to Cadillac Escalade models equipped with a 6.2L V8 petrol engine (production code L87) and features electronically controlled overdrive, a Traction Select System with special towing/haul capabilities and a manual shift mode. . It is equipped as standard on all Escalade units with a V8 petrol engine.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade with 3.0L turbodiesel (production code LM2) retains a different version of the 10-speed automatic transmission. This version of the transmission (production code MQC) was introduced as standard for the 2021 model year, and is installed in both petrol and diesel applications.

A Cadillac spokesperson explained the changes to Cadillac Society: “This update allows our manufacturing and dealer teams to more easily align the custom calibrations required for transmissions and can easily enable future OTA updates.”

In other words, giving the gasoline transmission a distinct production line allowed Cadillac to update it separately from vehicles with turbo-diesel engines.

As a reminder, the 6.2L V8 under the hood of the Cadillac Escalade and 2022 Escalade ESV have 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard on luxury SUVs, while all-wheel drive is optional. The fifth-generation Escalade has been praised for its wealth of cutting-edge technologies, including the Super Cruise, which was recently made available to SUVs again after a lull due to a global shortage of microchips.
