Hennessey Mammoth 1000 TRX Overland Edition Debuts With Roof Awning

The Texas Hennessey-based tuner is constantly looking for ways to spruce up its already insane Ram 1500 TRX. After adding a third axle some time ago for the 6×6 version, the creators of the wild pickup are back with the Overland Edition to enhance the outdoor nature of this super truck. Available as a separate package for the Mammoth 900 and 1000 models, it contains a hard shell roof tent from Nimbus that takes no more than a few minutes to set up.

The folks behind the Venom F5 hypercar will also be installing a 55-inch retractable awning and a rack-mounted eight-gallon pressurized water reservoir. Perhaps the most useful item that comes with the package is the dual auxiliary fuel tanks given the TRX’s excellent fuel economy. We’ll remind you that the standard version makes a measly 12 miles per gallon on the combined cycle, but that was before Hennessey got the Mammoth to four-figure horsepower.

Available for an additional $19,950, the Overland Edition also includes extra LED perimeter lights and grab bars. To sweeten the pot, the tuner also included a 28-inch splitting axe, shovel, and ladder for easy access to the tent and other newly added items. Hennessey believes customers who choose this package will also opt for the Stage 2 off-road kit with 37-inch tires, bigger bumpers and other upgrades.

Measuring 228.9 inches (5.81 meters) long, 82.1 inches (2.09 meters) wide and 77.6 inches (1.97 meters) high, the go-anywhere Mammoth is an impressive truck with intimidating power. It offers a hefty 1,012 hp at 6,500 rpm and 969 pound-feet (1,314 Newton-meters) of torque from 4,200 rpm delivered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine equipped with a 2.65-liter Hennessey supercharger. It also gets larger fuel injectors than the standard Hellcat to produce the Bugatti Veyron’s level of horsepower.
