Porsche Panamera Turbo S Drag Race Audi S8 In German Sedan Battle

This is the German sports sedan battle, and they even share the same parent company. CarWow puts the Audi S8 against the Porsche Panamera Turbo S.

The Audi S8 in this clip is a very interesting spec. The body is a dark green color that evokes the drab olive color of a military vehicle. It looks like this sedan should transport generals.

In the US, the S8’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is rated at 563 horsepower (420 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic with a torque converter and switches to an all-wheel drive system. It also has all-wheel steering and adaptive suspension. This large sedan is still fairly fast with reaching 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.8 seconds.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S also uses attractive colors. It is a very dark purple color.

The sedan also packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, but makes 620 hp (462 kW) and 604 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque. The transmission is an eight-speed dual clutch box with all-wheel drive. The Turbo S can reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 2.9 seconds. The recently updated model has adjustments to the steering tuning and adaptive dampers.

With an additional 57 hp (43 kW) and 14 lb-ft (19 Nm), it wouldn’t be too surprising if the Panamera Turbo S was the faster vehicle in this race. Departing from the reels shows something interesting about the S8. Audi’s gearbox is slower to downshift when the driver hits the gas. This may be because tuning the transmission prioritizes passenger comfort over absolute acceleration.

Not much information is available about how Audi intends to develop the A8 in the future. However, Porsche reportedly has a Panamera replacement in the works. The model is supposedly an electric sedan that will fit above the Taycan in terms of size. The cornerstone is the Scalable System Platform which is also under the brand’s upcoming seven-seater SUV. The launch date of the new Panamera is still a mystery.
