Honda e:N2 Concept Preview Next EV To Be Sold Exclusively In China

Honda is strengthening its electric car lineup in China, one of the world’s largest electric vehicle markets. Around this time last year, it debuted a set of show cars called e:N Concepts, which was a preview of a future Honda EV for the People’s Republic.

Honda started selling the e:NS1 and e:NP1 electric SUVs earlier this year. Now, the Japanese automaker is launching the e:N2 Concept, which is said to be the concept model for the second set of e:N Series models to be sold exclusively in China through the joint venture of Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda. The concept car was shown to the public at the Fifth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

The e:N2 concept takes some cues from the e:N GT Concept, one of the five China-only EVs previewed last year. It features bold shapes, defined by sharp lines and futuristic lighting elements, which accentuate the dark metallic look.

While it’s unclear from the images provided in the press release, it appears that the e:N2 Concept will come with four doors, although the body style is something that “doesn’t fall into the existing category,” according to Honda. Reports from China are labeling the new concept car as an SUV.

Honda did not provide any images for the interior although it was mentioned in the release that it comes with a clean and tidy digital cockpit, plus Honda Connect’s passenger-focused features. There is also the presence of lighting and scent in the cabin.

Meanwhile, the e:N2 Concept builds on the e:N Architecture F developed exclusively for the e:N Series model. It is designed to provide unique driving pleasure, excellent vehicle stability and sharp handling, according to Honda.

Honda plans to launch 10 e:N Series models in China by 2027, produced in dedicated EV production plants. All Honda models in China after 2030 will be hybrid or full EV and by 2040, all will be purely electric.
