BMW 3 Series Coupe Rendering Brings Back Memories of E30, E90

With the arrival of the BMW 3 Series F30 generation, the coupe and convertible models in its lineup were completely redesigned and separated from the 3 Series family. In 2013, BMW introduced the first 4 Series and now in its second generation as both coupes and cabriolets with a somewhat polarizing design compared to the BMW 3 Series. the more conservative 3 Series sedan. But what if the current Series 3 had a coupe version that wasn’t part of the Series 4 lineup?

Digital artist at Kolesa.ru decided it was time to imagine what the new 3 Series Coupe would look like. The rendering you see attached below is based on a facelifted version of the compact premium model and depicts a very handsome two-door luxury engine. It doesn’t feature the Series 4’s massive kidney grille and to some extent, we like this virtual design even better than the actual Bavarian coupe.

The last time BMW had a three-door model in the 3 Series lineup was when the E90 generation was sold and the 3 Series Coupe had the internal designation E92. Hardware is shared between all new 3 Series body styles, although the coupe has some key visual differences including reshaped taillights, longer doors, frameless door windows and more. Interestingly, when the E90 was discontinued for the F30 generation to enter the market after the 2011 model year, the E92 coupe and E93 convertible remained on sale until the 2013 model year.

It is also interesting to note that there have been two-door sedan models in the history of the Series 3. Although marketed as coupes purely for marketing reasons, the E21 and E30 generation models have versions that can be attributed to the sedan category thanks to a higher roofline and similar cabin space to the older versions. four-door sedan.

Returning to the current generation 3 Series and its two-door derivative, the absolute flagship of the family will soon debut in the form of the 3.0 CSL with a very limited production run of just 50 units. The rebodied and heavily modified M4 will have a starting price of around $750,000 and will supposedly be a manual gearbox, a rear-wheel drive only affair.
